Leaders of campus protest groups gathered to discuss recent student protest issues at a National Coordination meeting organised by the Education Activist Network.
The meeting took place on Sunday November 28 at Birkbeck College and is attended by representatives from student-led protest groups including UCL, LSE, SOAS, Coultauld and Birkbeck, as well as ULU president Clare Solomon and NUS president Aaron Porter.
Porter expressed his commitment to support student protest actions in financial, legal and political ways. He also stated that he will not cooperate with the police to control student actions at the request of Solomon.
There was a general consensus at the meeting of disappointment of a betrayal by Liberal Democrats and determination to hold the party to account for its election pledge fur the next few weeks when the vote on higher education fee takes place in parliament.
The meeting is also attended by secondary school students who are leading actions at their respective colleges.
