Asked on BBC if he is proud of the protests seen today, NUS President Aaron Porter said: “not at all.”
“Students who think it is appropriate to use violence to make their case… it is not appropriate,” he said.
Porter distanced himself from the protests saying that NUS did not organise the protests, but instead organised a peaceful lobby of MP’s and a rally afterward.
Porter said the protest had been organised by the University of London Union.
He added: “I can never condone the use of violence, no matter how serious the issue may be.”
